LGBTQ and Student Identity Issues
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning Youth are coming out at younger and younger ages. Far too many of these youth face pervasive harassment and violence at school because of their actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity.
This training will provide faculty and school staff with an overview of the unique issues facing LGBTQ youth in our schools:
- Discrimination
- Lack of support
- Harassment
- Violence
- Lower school success
- Increase risk of depression, drug abuse and suicide
The training will also help schools better identify ways in which they could increase support for LGBTQ youth in their schools.
